How do I create a "sub-album" under an album?

You can't.

You can create a folder and put more than one Album into it.

albums hold photos - folders hold albums and other folders

With that you can create any level of organization you want

imilar to the way you can create subfiles under a file in other directories.

just a note - there is no such thing as a subfiles - you put files in folders and folders in other folders - exactly like iPhoto putting photos in albums and albums in folders

How do you create a 'folder' in iPhoto 09? I am a complete newbie with Mac computers and am feeling my way around best I can. I also would love to have a sub-album within an album but as you said.. cannot do..but how can you organize the albums and yet- need folders to create more organization so you have folders and albums ?? showing over at the left hand side of the iPhoto window ?

File -> New Folder?

Drag an Album to the folder.

Folders can contain Albums and other Folders.
