My previous reply was prompted by the impression I got that you believed that there was no problem with the original (non-updated) version of iMovie '11. I gather you don't get it if you buy via the Mac App Store.

    That's what feedback is for.

Oh. I guess I don't know what feedback is. I know what the word means, but where or how do we give feedback to Apple? Thanks.

wow, finally found people with my same issue.. this is what mines been doing. i recored videos on photo booth, imported them to imovie and cut them and edited them and all to make a short 3 minute little movie.. i play it back and it works all synced until about 20 seconds or more till the end.. and boom all out of sync and everything screwed up.. this has to be the most annoying thing i had to deal with on this computer i just got.. windows movie maker never did this to me.. and i payed a lot less for it so i'm pretty mad that my mac is doing this.. pretty annoying that i've been wasting my time all day trying to get the videos in sync and no work.. since 12 o'clock and its now 8 wow thank you imovie.. THIS NEEDS FIXED SOON.. thanks.

THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED SOON.. thanks.

I agree, although the problem is not the Mac, but a software program (iMovie '11) that is made by the company that also makes the Mac, namely, Apple. I think we might need to send a delegation to the company. It would be nice to at least get an acknowledgement of the problem from them. No solution is going to be developed until someone high up is clearly aware there's a problem.

Your recommendation fixed the problem. It tried it and now audio and video is sync'd. Although I found one clip that was off by 0.1 sec. It was easy enough to fix one track compared to the vast tracts of video out of sync before.

    Thanks for the tip!

I wonder why detaching is fixing the problem for some and not for others? In the cases where detachment works, is the video on your internal or external drive? My video is on a LaCie d2 Quadra connected via eSATA through my MBP's ExpressCard slot. Paul has a similar setup, but I'm sure it's just coincidence; that's a popular hard drive...

As best as I can tell from reconstructing who is responding to what, "your recommendation" refers to the recommendation to reinstall the pre-update version of iMovie '11 (i.e., replace version 9.01 with 9.0), not to detaching the audio. Has anyone said that detaching the audio has solved the synchronization problem?

I take this to mean that you reverted to version 9.0. If so, what did you do to fix the clip that was off by 0.1 sec? (And how were you able to determine that it was 0.1 seconds?)

I sent a lengthy feedback. It would be nice if they sent a confirmation e-mail with the text of the feedback, as some places do. Unfortunately, I have no copy of what I sent. Among other things, I explained that a problem that started at the beginning with iMovie '11 got much worse with their update--that the problem was not limited to the update, which means that reverting to 9.0 doesn't completely solve the problem.

I have the exact same problem as everyone here. Is it a little strange that these posts span back two months, yet there hasn't been so much as a word spoken from Apple about it? Lots of us, including me, have sent feedback, as well as called tech support (yeah, don't waste your time).

I wonder if there's a component of the problem that we all have in common? It seems like, if this is a universal problem with the program (I'm using "problem" instead of "issue" like that homeboy pointed out), then there would be more people here posting about it. Maybe all of us on this thread have a similar disease causing our symptoms... but, as far as I can tell from reading the posts, nothing comes to mind...

I haven't posted and I have the problem. I have done as suggested and sent in feedback. I haven't had time to try some of the solutions. So I'm sure there are many who are following the thread who have done as I have.
