Hey everyone, I have an Intel Core 2 Duo Macbook Pro. I currently have a mini-Toslink to Toslink cable running between my MBP and my Sony STR-KS360 home theater system. However, I still cannot get 5.1 Surround Sound to work. Whenever I go into system preferences it says that it is running through the digital output and then when I go into the Audio MIDI Setup it also says it is running through the digital output but when I try to configure speakers and select multichannel it only gives me the option of stereo. All surround sound options are greyed out.
I want to get surround sound working in a manner so that I can use Soundtrack Pro to mix in surround sound. If anyone has any suggestions, recommendations, or help please advise. Thanks all.
So, even though Soundtrack Pro has 5.1 mixing options it cannot work as output to be recognized?
Also, as a side note I tried playing a dvd through the DVD Player application with the setup exactly the same. I went into the preferences and set it to 5.1 surround sound and my receiver would recognize that there was a 5.1 output it still only played through the left, right, and subwoofer. It did not properly output to the rest of the speakers, it only recognized that there was indeed a signal of sorts going to it.
This is not my main issue as I have a blu-ray player that runs through the system and plays in surround sound fine. My main issue is that I want be able to mix audio in surround through Soundtrack Pro's surround capabilities.
I also have this same issue and no one seems to have an answer, I have and hdmi adapter on the way, I hope I can figure this out, if I can I will post my solution and hopefully it will help others out.
