I have the same problem with my iphone 4. It will work fine while using safari and the app store and for some reason after about 10 mins it will no longer connect to my wifi even though it would display full wifi signal strength in the corner. If i swith the wifi setting off then on it reconnects and works fine again until about 10 mins or so.

I have an ipod touch 4 and this works without any problmes at all with my wifi and so does my wireless pc and my 3 wireless laptops so the router is not the problem.

The problem is something with the iphone 4 and i've read alot of other people have the same problem. I have restored my iphone and keep it up to date but this has not fixed the problem,

    does someone know the answer?

Even though other devices may work with your router, that doesn't rule out a router issue. Does this happen all WiFi networks? If not, restarting the router and getting the latest firmware for it may help.

If not the router, the following troubleshooting steps with your iPhone may help:

Reset phone - press both home and sleep/wake buttons until the Apple logo appears:
Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Restore phone in iTunes using a backup.
Restore as a new iPhone, without using a backup.

If restoring as new doesn't help, there is a hardware problem that needs evaluation by Apple.

alot of the time its becouse of a dynamic ip adress.

try setting it to static. or telling the iphone by going to the network connection and either hitting static . dhcp. or bootp

so that way the iphone knows what type of connection its looking for.

I downloaded the latest firmware for my router, it was already running the latest firmware because it is not that old (7 weeks)

I just jumped straight to the final step and restored the iphone through itunes to factory settings, the problem still persists. I do not know if this happens on any othe wifi networks as i have only had the phone 4 days and have not had the chance to try it out on other networks.

If i am using the phone on the internet constantly it seems to last longer before disconecting but if i put it down for 5-10 mins and do not go on the internet or app store, even with it still connected to wifi with the diplay bars in the corner, when i pick it up again to browse safari or something it has disconnected, but still showing as connected in the wifi settings and status bars as full signal for wifi.

    ?????

When you "put it down for 5-10 minutes", I'm assuming the phone locks and goes to sleep (if not, you need to adjust Auto-Lock time to save battery).

It's NORMAL for the phone to disconnect WiFi when sleeping to save battery - most laptops do the same. When unlocking the phone, it will take several seconds to reestablish a WiFi connection.

The only way to maintain a continuous WiFi connection when sleeping is to disable the cell data network: Settings > General > Network > Cell Data > OFF.

I de-activated the auto sleep function when i first discovered the problem thinking it was the problem. But it wasn't

I replaced my router with a friends one and it seems to have fixed the problem, i have now bought a good router "N" series. I was shocked because every other device, including my ipod touch 4 that shares the same updates and technology as the iphone, was working with my old router fine. It just goes to show that you can't always rule out problems this way, i'm no network engineer lol.
    Thanks all for the advice

My Iphone won't stay connected to wifi more than 10 15 min, even while using the internet on it. Then I have to swith wifi off and the on to work for about 10 15 min again! It happens not only at home but also everywhere! I have an Ipad and a ipod touch and they work fine with no problems!

If somebody could help i would appreciate thank you

its a very simple solution---settings--general----cellular--- cellular data off --- for permanent wifi regards JJ
