I received Logic 9 for Christmas along the a M-audio pro keys 88. I love mainstage but the only problem is it does not play the chord that I am telling to play. So i have to transpose everything down 1 half step fo it to play the chord I want it to. I can play my keys through logic and it plays the right chord, so i assume this is just something going on with mainstage. If anyone can help me figure out what is wrong I will greatly appreciate it!!
Thanks
Josh
A friend of mine had EXACTLY the same problem and it ended up being his M-Audio interface that was the issue. He bought a decent interface (M-Audio is really pretty crappy gear) and the problem never happened again.
I know this might sound a bit bizarre - especially given that the problem only seems to occur with MS - but your problem is absolutely IDENTICAL to my friend's problem. Are you able to use a different keyboard and/or interface (that's not M-Audio) with MS in order to confirm or rule out that particular factor? I'd be willing to bet some $$ that M-Audio is the problem here.
If you play a C on the keyboard what info do you see in the Activity Monitor section in the middle of the toolbar? You should see C. You can also download an app called Midi Monitor and it will show you what notes are incoming so you can verify if it's a problem with the M-Audio keyboard without Mainstage being involved.
I do not have another MIDI controller. I do have a Yamaha S90 that may work as an interface. I will give that a try. I have noticed though when a chord like C for example. The notes that make up a C chord are C E G. And if i hit the G last it will play a G chord or If i hit the E last it will play a E chord. the only way i can get it to play the C is if I hit E and G together and then C. Which really ***** because it does not sound right...
