Assuming that you have the 3G/wifi version of the iPad, and not just wifi only, then the you can download the iPad manual from here http://support.apple.com/manuals/#ipad . Depending on which iOS version you're on it's either page 25 of the 3.2 manual, or page 9 of 4.2 manual

If your iPad is the wifi only model then you can't install a sim into it - it doesn't have the slot for one, nor the ability to use one.
