Deleted emails keep reappearing

Starting today, when I delete my hotmail emails from my iPhone and then later I refresh the emails, the same emails that I had previously deleted appear again. Any help would greatly be appreciated as this is fairly frustrating to be receiving the same emails that I have already deleted.

Thanks

I receive new e-mails that go to my laptop gmail account on my i-phone. I delete the messages from my laptop, and on my i-phone. Whenever I clear out new messages on the phone, it gets previously deleted messages from my laptop. Currently it tells me there are 3000+ messages to receive. When I archive or trash my in-box, it accepts 50 more old messages. Can I get rid of these messages before they get to my i-phone in box? Can I delete them all at once? I don't want to have to tap every message into the trash. Is this something to be dealt with on the laptop or on the i-phone.

I spoke with apple support. What I learned is that gmail keeps copies of emails on-line. In order to keep them from transferring to the i-phone in box, you must go on-line to the gmail page and access your account from there. You can delete everything from that page. You must delete every in-box and then delete the trash. I haven't figured out a way to delete more than 50 messages at a time, but it still goes quickly. Then you delete the gmail account through the settings on the i-phone. Shut the phone off and let it recycle, then re-enter the gmail account.

There's a way you can disable that type of communication between the iPhone and Gmail so that everything syncs up, and Gmail won't keep thinking the messages are new because it has them and your phone doesn't.

1. Login to Gmail.com and click Settings (top right)
2. Click Forwarding and POP/IMAP at the top
3. Disable POP and Enable IMAP then save
4. Delete the Gmail account on your iPhone and readd. Make sure you use the auto setup for the Gmail type. Mail Contacts...> Add Account > Gmail > Your Info
