Huge Blasts of White Noise, urgent help needed

Ok, this is pretty sick. I thought this was my fault, but searching over the Internet I found many people are having this problem. I'm getting sudden blasts of white noise, deafening stuff if you have your headphones on. I read people having this problem while recording audio tracks, but I'm experiencing this crazy stuff mostly when working on VSL tracks.. Does anyone of you ever had this problem? Is there any solution?

I'm asking Apple to work out this mess, since this is REALLY DANGEROUS FOR USERS' HEALTH. I experienced this blasts with my headphones on and my ears kept ringing for days.

IMac, Mac OS X (10.6.6), Logic Pro 9.1.3

Have you tried seeing if you get the same problem using core audio as you do with the Rig Kontrol? Could be a problem with the N.I. drivers. Although, you say other people have had this problem, so that might not help... Are the periods of white noise random and fairly short? If so, that sounds like a bad connection somewhere. If the white noise is much louder than your normal output, there's got to be some mad overload going on... Nasty problem! Sorry if none of this helps at all.

Since communicating with Apple is virtually impossible, I'm gonna paste here a reply I had on VSL boards about this problem. So much for RAM, CPU, corrupted files, vibrating hard disks and so on...the one and only problem for this seems to be Apple. This, obviously, until Apple proves otherwise

Why? Well, read this (from VSL boards):

Hello,

+I can give you the best help you're ever going to get on this subject because I went through it for years, with many different machines (from Logic 7 through Logic 9). I also know many many people who also suffered this. They stipulate it's hard drive performace. Awesome! I buy the best in the world. BOOOM my head gets blown off 2 days later. They say it's slow memory. ALRIGHT!!! Crucial here I come! SLAM I get my head blown off again while in the studio wearing headphones. My head rang for 3 days from that one.+

+I continued to search and search for an answer and was determined to find a solution. I tried 100s or more things, spent countless hours and money to no avail. And then viola! I fixed the problem and have NEVER had it happen again! I bought a brand new Windows 7 machine and put Studio One from Presonus on it and have never looked back! No more pops, clicks, blown ear drums (or fear of it happening) etc. I am actually making more music then I ever did on my Apple. Not to mention everything from VSL works better on Windows 7 then OS X and the load times are also faster in every way in every test I have compared. Windows 7, Presonus Studio One and VSL MIR is my new permanent work horse.+

+So there it is! Send Apple my love, hugs and kisses! This ships never returning!+

That's a strange way of seeing the situation. I found the 'monster thread' after I started this thread, but FYI I never said it's a Logic specific issue. Because, FYI, this problem is an Apple specific issue.

That's why it's a little weird bumping into someone who's talking about how a "competitive marketplace works": competitive marketplaces are about competition, not 'fraud' (worst case scenario) or bad customer care.

Fraud, eh? Interesting take. I guess you could always help start a civil suit if you wish. Lots of lawyers play that game and have gone after Apple for other claims.

If you want to keep ranting, I'm not going to stop you. Rail against the machine! Fight the power!

If doing music on Apple gear upsets you so much though, switch. I got out of video editing on Windows for similar reasons. Hence, my competitive marketplace suggestion.

It's your choice.

In the meantime, what do you want from this forum? Sympathy? An agreeable "Hear Hear, Sir, You are correct!"? I don't know.

My last reply disappeared.

Switching from Windows to Apple or viceversa for quality or taste issues is one thing, and that's how competitive marketplace works. Being obliged to switch from Windows to Apple or viceversa because the product I bought is useless and dangerous for my health brings us to completely different conclusions.

I'd like Apple to care about people who trusted their knowledge and gave them their own money. I'd like Apple to let us know 1) if they're working on this issue 2) if this issue can be solved.
