Ipod Technical Issues

Hi, who ever could help me it would be really good. My ipod took the whole night to sync so when it was morning I quickly grabbed it thinking that it would be done after a few hours and i guess I pulled it out while it was syncing. Now my ipod is acting VERY weird, it is locking and unlocking really rapidly, then its asking to power off. Also the ipod's buttons aren't working very well, like the lock button was the volume up button and the minimize volume was the home button, etc. Can any one ]help or tell me what to do? Thank you

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.6)

Basics from the manual are restart, reset, restore.

Have you tried all of these?

So, basically I was listening to music on my iPod touch 4th gen, and I paused the music to go and get my laptop. I come back, go to unlock my iPod to continue the music and nothing works. The screen is just blank. Ive held down the lock button, held down the hold button, held both down, clicked the button, etc etc, then when I tried to plug it into my laptop, my laptop doesn't even register that it's plugged in! It's fully charged, not had any problems before, and the worst thing is I've misplaced the box so I don't know if I can send it back! HELP ME

(sorry im new to apple and the forum so I don't have a clue how to create a new topic, so Ive had to post on this one. desperately need help with this, Im only 16 and my parents will be fuming if they find out i cant find the box to send it back in!)
