Visual Voicemail

Recently I found out I have gone 2 months without voicemail. The voicemail window comes up as normal but with no entries.

If I try to play the greeting or set a password it will say "retrieving greeting" and either time out with (voicemail unavailible try again later) or sit there for hours until I stop it.

I can call my voicemail just fine and do everything from there.

To troubleshoot I have done the following

Reset Network Settings
Reset All settings
Reset Voicemail password using ATT Wireless site
Went through the Iphone interface voicemail setup
Reset Voicemail password using ATT Phone Support (611)
Went through the phone voicemail setup (calling self)
Restored Iphone using Itunes 3x

Still same result I can call my voicemail and use it but visual voicemail just times out over and over.

I also had this same problem with my iPhone 3GS running 4.2.1. No Visual Voicemail items listed, and when I tried to change anything (password, greeting), it just spun forever. I could access my saved messages by dialing into my voicemail using the phone, so they were clearly being stored - they just were accessible through Visual Voicemail. Changing settings through the phone also didn't accomplish anything.

I restored the phone, and before using the saved backup, I checked Visual Voicemail. All saved messages were there and readily accessed. However, when I used the backup to restore the phone, access to Visual Voicemail went away.

So, I went through the iTunes settings tabs and made notes of all of my current settings, including some screen shots of my app arrangements. I then restored the phone, but set it up as new, rather than using the backup. Next I used my notes to recreate the iPhone's settings. It took a while, but I've got my Visual Voicemail back again.
