IDSN, Integrated Services Digital Network, was used to provide early access to the internet over traditional telephone lines. A precursor to what today is called DSL, Digital Subscriber Line.
Although ISDN uses telephone lines it does not usually provide phone service although phone service is provided over the same lines. Fax hardware and software requires the use of standard telephone lines but connects to those lines using a standard telephone/fax modem such as
this product.
A fax machine typically has the modem built-in to the machine and simply needs a telephone cable to connect the machine to a telephone wall jack. It really makes no difference if your telephone lines are separate or shared with the ISDN data service.
