MacBook Pro 2009 Restore to Factory Settings

I am trying to restore a 2009 MacBook Pro to factory settings, as I intend to sell it.

I have installed the Mac OS X Install DVD, held down the C key while the system reboots, chose English, etc., but never get an option to choose erase and reinstall. In fact, I get no options, so the OS just keeps re-installing and all my information remains.

Any help would be much appreciated!

macbook pro, Mac OS X (10.5.6)

Here's a couple of links that you might find helpful:

I think what you need to do is to boot from the install disc and then open Disk Utility and erase the hard drive, maybe even with whichever secure erase you feel is necessary. Once the drive is erased, you'll be able to install the OS.

Good luck!
