Jan 15, 2011 9:02 AM in response to sachawardby mterzian,Good evening,
I have the same issue with my wife's iPod 4G running iOS 4.2.1
Until today, everything was working just fine with her gmail account on her iPod.
She can no longer send emails with her Gmail account.
I tried to delete and setup her account again bu the same problem remains.
I have tried to setup MY gmail account on the iPod and it's working.
I also tried to setup her gmail account on my iPhone (from which I have no problem at all to send emails from both my gmail and my me account): I couldn't send the email.
Could it mean that the problem is on Google's side and only with some gmail accounts?
Any help would be very appreciated.
Thank you.

Jan 15, 2011 9:08 AM in response to mterzianby BcSample,Same issues.. I did a full restore on the phone. Removed all the accounts and the sent mail still just moves to the outbox. But It is just on one of the gmail accounts.
I tried it on my ipad and it is the same there "Sending message content to server failed".
I am wondering if it is actually is a gmail issue vice Apple..... -
Jan 15, 2011 11:15 AM in response to sachawardby bsamples77,Mine is not working either through my MacBook or my iPhone 3gs running iOS 4.2.1. Maybe it's Gmail? -
Jan 15, 2011 2:44 PM in response to bsamples77by sachaward,It may well be a problem with gmail, but the account works fine when sending mail through the gmail webmail browser. But if I'm not the only one having this problem, it may well be to do with gmail.
Keep the answers coming!
Many thanks. -
Jan 15, 2011 5:41 PM in response to sachawardby sachaward,Seems this is most likely a gmail SMTP problem with 3rd party mail clients, including Apple Mail and iPod, iPhone mail.
Just browsed gmail forums and found this:
http://www.google.td/support/forum/p/gmail/thread?tid=440f818dde454a4f&hl=en
Hopefully it's one of those issues that the Google Machine will pick up on and will be solved soon.
Fingers crossed, but if anyone has any solutions in the mean time... -
