iPod touch 2nd Generation and .m4v file?

Hello all!, I need some help, I downloaded and combined a .m4v Video file (1.73GB) and I imported it to iTunes and it plays fine, even QuickTime plays the file, however when I select for it to sync on my iPod touch I get the error saying 'the movie Perfume Triangle Tour cannot be synced to this iPod because it cannot be played on this iPod' the movie is fully chaptered And is in High Quality .m4v format. Any suggestions?

PowerBook G4 12.1" 1GHz, 256MB, PB(6,2), Mac OS X (10.4.11), iPod touch 2G (iOS 4.1), Windows XP SP3 Home Edition

highlight the file in iTunes and choose +create iPod or iPhone version+ from the advanced menu. try syncing the newly created file to your mobile device.

I won't loose my chapters and quality of the original .m4v right?? :3

you would lose some quality (your iPod Touch model is somewhat limited in what it can display) but the chapters should be intact in the converted file.

in any event, the conversion process will leave the original unchanged so nothing would be lost if it doesn't work 😉

I have done as you suggested and it works, however the file size seems to have doubled. Any way of keeping it the same size, or smaller?

I'd just use HandBrake as iTunes takes forever to convert download HandBrake for Mac and use that it's very useful and it'll give you a smaller file if you need it that way

Thanks. I tried that but now I can't seem to get the file format right. What format MUST it be to play on an iPod touch? Any help on the specifics for Handbrake would help. Cheers

Use MP4 format in Handbrake (great little program). I've converted about 30 movies and they work great on mine and my son's iPod touchs.
