"An error occured while reading from this device"

"An error occured while reading from this device"

"An error occured while reading from this device" is the message I get whenever I try to sync my iPad to iTunes.
The only way I can sync is to do a restore and then put everything back on it.
Can anybody help?

There are many people with the same trouble and so far I don't think a reliable solution has been found. I have that trouble on my desktop PC with my iPad and my wife's iPhone, but when I use my laptop I have no trouble.

Try fully unistalling itunes and all Apple components within your system. Then reinstall.

May seem an odd question, but what motherboard do you have?

Ooh eck!
Without taking my PC apart I couldn't tell you what motherboard I have.
If I get really fed up I'll uninstall and reinstall everything but as iTunes and iPad have both been through 2 software updates, I'm not sure how much good that'll do.

Make sure you also unisntall

and there's a couple of others. there are Apple support articles, but I'm sorry I don't have the articles linked. Also ensure you reboot after all of the uninstalls and reboot you iPad as well. This all fixed my laptop, but as I said, my desktop PC is still acting funny.

As your laptop seems older, and the MB link is suspected on a particular group of newer motherboards, so I doubt your laptop motherboard is the common link.

You might want to double check that its USB2 ports.
