ringtones wont sync

I recently downloaded ring tones from the itunes store. for some reason the will not actually sync to my phone. They do not even show up on the ringtones tab . I have other ringtones that i added in the passed. they loaded on there own. I actually paid to download the ring tone again but from itunes on my phone and it still did not go to ringtones. It does show up in my ipod music tho. Anyone know what I can do to get the tones to go to the right place.
