Jan 17, 2011 1:09 PM in response to Justin Surplessby baltwo,Peruse http://applecomponents.com/?p=reviews and decide for yourself. As a side note, I never take apart iMacs, even though I've built TVs and audio equipment. -

Yeah, I hear you on taking them apart... I only did it because her HD was failing and it was out of warranty... -

Dec 24, 2011 12:57 AM in response to Justin Surplessby McBanjo,I've had a rather extremely negative experience with this website. They accept no returns for any items and the guy who runs the place is self-righteous, rude and has very poor customer service.
Take your money elsewhere, even if it costs a little more.

Nov 10, 2013 6:12 AM in response to McBanjoby puddytat,I wish I had seen your post before I bought a 6970M video card from applecomponents.com. When I had it installed, it did not work. I took the card to a local shop to run diagnostics. It turned out that the card that I bought from applecompoinents.com was faulty, and applecomponents.com will not replace or refund the card. applecomponents.com misled me to believe that they purchased the card directly from Apple, but when I requested the purchase information so that I could have Visa honor a warranty, they did not have a receipt. I'm wondering if the card was just an old used card, or just faulty. Either way, I don't recommend this applecomponents.com. I'm out almost $600 bucks.

Nov 10, 2013 2:38 PM in response to puddytatby McBanjo,I had the same issue with that card also! This graphics card is under a replacement program through Apple in 27" iMacs. as they are faulty in certain models. I suggest you call AppleCare and have it replaced by them for free if your model number fits the program (Google it).
Also, don't do what I did and go to an Apple Store for the repair. You need to go to an authorised repair centre if there are signs that you have opened the machine yourself. Apple Stores have rules against that (stupid I know).

Nov 10, 2013 6:07 PM in response to McBanjoby puddytat,Hi McBanjo, Thanks for the suggestion. I have already checked into this. I bought the card separately from the iMac. The Apple program only replaces cards purchased as part of a Apple computer. Applecomponents.com misled me to believe that they purchased the card directly from apple but this was not true. If applecomponents.com would have legitamately purchased this card, I might have had more replacement options.

Jan 6, 2014 12:58 PM in response to puddytatby advantageTechy,I am currious as it states on applecomponents.com that there is a 30 Day Guarantee. Is this the case now and not when you bought it, or is it that they just do not honor it? I am looking where to purchase the 6790M 2G card and I cannot find another place. Does anyone have any other places to go?
Thanks.

Jan 6, 2014 1:10 PM in response to advantageTechyby babowa,Have you checked into ifixit.com? And, my first suggestion would actually be that you go to an authorized service provider and ask them if they have it or can they order one for you.

Jan 6, 2014 1:39 PM in response to babowaby advantageTechy,I did check ifixit.com and on a different thread I found MacPartsOnline.com to have the part for $598. I was going to go to the Apple Store today and talk with some folks I knw over there and I think there is a Mac SP ner me somewhere as well. Thanks for posting and Happy New Year!
