Ipod touch 4th gen. and PPPoE connection

Hello,

I read about the PPPoE connection for Ipod and it seem that the Ipod can't connect to 2 different wi-fi connection at the same time. With my computer I was connected on a network automatically ( with no internet connection ) and I had to connect to a PPPoE connection to get access to internet.

My question is ... Is it possible for me to do the same with my Ipod since I can't change the router because I'm living at schools appartment.

Thanks !

Hp, Windows 7

PPPoE is a modem connection protocol. It has nothing to do with WiFi. However, if your computer connects to the internet via PPPoE it may be possible for you to setup an ad hoc network with your computer. Note: this is really dependent on your computer and OS and whether or not you have a wireless card in your computer.

Check the help file for your OS. The hardware requirements are a connection to the internet via an ethernet cable and a wireless network card. The basic idea is that you share the signal from your wired internet connection with your wireless card - and it is OS dependent.

Your best bet is to buy a wireless router and let it handle the PPPoE connection for you. You could then create a wired and wireless network easily.

I did create a ad hoc conection with my HP ProBook 4510s pc from a PPPOE conection and YES it worked but now it does not anymore .....

It worked once and when I disconected for the first time it did not work again ... :S any1 know why. I tried to delete the conection and make an other I tried to make an ad hoc with an other non-wifi connection and it didnt succeed.

Ipod or computer ?

Thanks for your help

Have you rebooted your computer since the connection was lost? Many times when you have networking errors you will need to reboot your computer to reset the networking card.

I still would buy a router if I was you. It is easier to work with than ad hoc connections, it's more secure since it has a built in firewall, and they can be had for $40 US or less.
