Hi, I can't seem to remove the mail icon from my dock, when I try to put it into the trash it hover over it and says"remove from dock" but it won't drop into the bin, instead it floats back to its original place in the dock...please help.

Do you have Mail running? (Is there a little light glowing under the icon?) If so, you have to quit the application first. (You can choose Quit from the right-click, or ctrl-click.) Then the icon will disappear from your dock.

ok, what is secondary click?? Is this why my right click doesn't seem to be working? When I tried doing control click the options came up and "keep in dock" was one of them, but its not ticked!! I don't get it...thanks.
thanks captfred, but that doesn't work, it just goes back to the dock...
Thank you so much Matt!!! Yep simple when you know how...feeling silly now. Could I please ask you one other thing, yesterday I deleted a couple of months worth of emails by mistake!!! I vaguely recall you can reset your computer to a previous day/time..how?? Thanks in advance...
Well, first, I'd check in the Trash of Mail (not the Trash in your dock, the one in the Mail program) and see if the emails are in there.
Do you have the Time Machine backup program running and saving backups to an external hard drive or a Time Capsule? If so, check the Time Machine FAQ (it's in the Time Machine forum, here) for instructions on how to recover files.

Just Drag it up an inch off the dock and let go. It will go in a puff of smoke.
Don't use the trash bin.

Right click the icon and select options, uncheck "keep in dock". Try it again.

When I right click it brings the page up full screen, thats all, no options....
Sorry, you must not have secondary click active. Do a CNTL-click.
