Blank white screen after restart (after installing OS update)

Yesterday I updated my brand new iMac 27" Quadcore to 10.6.6. After restarting the iMac the screen showed a blank white screen for about 1 minute and then boots normally. I've tried to restart three times already, sill the same behavior. The OS will come up eventually, but the 1 minute delay each time is still annoying.

Any idea of how to fix this, please?

Did you repair permissions?

Repairing Disk Permissions didn't work. What I did was unplugging everything, then resetted the P-RAM, then restarted. Worked fine. Then I re-plugged everything, and now the white screen onlys stays on for about 10 seconds before the apple logo appears.

Does anyone know why it takes longer to restart with peripherals plugged in??
