Internet connect speed too slooooow!

I just upgraded my internet connect speed last week from 6 Mps to 12 Mps. I have not made any software or hardware changes recently. I am still only getting 3-4 Mps. Talked to my ISP (AT&T) earlier today, they ran tests and could not find any problems on their end. My wife's PC laptop is getting the specified 10-12 Mps download speed. So they say it is my PowerMac G5 tower. Any ideas, suggestions? Please help.

How is the G5 connected, Airport/wifi, Ethernet, or what? What is it connected to as a Router?

Does the PC or Router use QoS to give priority to the PC's IP?

What do you get for raw speeds here, for both Java & Flash, DSL Reports...

Be sure to disconnect the dial-up modem cable. That problem has been posted here more than once. so it is not such a dumb suggestion, it happens. Humor me -- Just check it anyway.

Ethernet. I've already unpluggged and replugged cables and restarted the AT&T modem. Still no speed.

Open Network Utility in Application>?Utilities>Info tab, choose the Ethernet interface, what Link speed does it say? Any errors or Collisions shown?

If nothing else works I suggest that you replace your Ethernet cable running to the G5.

Thanks to everyone for their response to my internet connection speed problem. I removed my ethernet router (I no longer need my old G3 Mac hooked-up) and one cable, and now I've got my 10Mbs+ speed! Either the router or the cable was the culprit. Thanks especially to DaddyPaycheck for your cable replace suggestion.

You can also use http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/ this is what I use to test my speed.

I think you should clear the cache files and historys of your browser which may changes your downloading speed .After cleaning the cache and Historys of your browser check you connection speed using the site ScanmySpeed.com.
