Copy large files (over 4GB) from OS X to Windows shared drive using SMB

Hi there,

When I access my shared XP drive, large files (over 2GB or something) are not shown in the finder. Furthermore, when I try copying a 4 GB file over from my Mac, it fails with a 0 error.

How can I address this?

MacBook Pro 13", Mac OS X (10.6.6)

Either you need to format your Windows drive using NTFS or break up the files into chunks smaller than 2 GBs which is the file limit of FAT32.

Unfortunately OS X can only read an NTFS drive. It cannot write to it without help such as using MacFuse with ntfs-3g-2010.10.2-macosx - CNet Downloads or MacUpdate. Other options can be found by searching these sites for "ntfs".
