Constant Troubles Getting Front Row to Open With Remote

I constantly have trouble getting Front Row to open using the remote. I hold down the button for a few seconds, for many seconds, up to 15 seconds and sometimes it opens, sometimes it doesn't. There doesn't seem to be any consistency. If I "pair" the remote, it will usually open after, but I shouldn't have to do this every time. I've changed battery, and computer location, still it's unreliable. Any suggestions?
