    the tips of your fingers?

seriously, with a touch screen why would arrow keys be necessary?

I noticed that there weren't any arrow keys myself, but forgot all about it because of the touchscreen. Like spacepiggy says, what's the point if you can drag whatever you like with your fingertips?

The actual answer is that there are no arrow keys that allow you to move up, down, left or right when typing with the iPad keyboard. There are keyboards that you can buy to use with your iPad that may offer that function to you.

You can search the web for iPad compatible keyboards that you can purchase.

But the other posters make sense in that you can position the cursor wherever you want with a touch of your finger. It works much better when you zoom in so that you can make the text and the spaces in between words and letters much larger.

The finger thing is just stupid. The arrow keys are a mush faster method. Most times I can't land the cursor where I want it so as a result I have to replace the entire word.

Zoom in on the text you are trying to edit.

How would it be faster messing around with arrow keys on a touch screen. You'd have to have a cursor first and then an 8 way scroll to move the silly arrow key around.

If you're having difficulty with the very simple finger method, zoom your screen.

Zoom way in and make the text field really large. One other trick to this is that a very light touch works so much better than a heavy hand. It may sound like an elementary thing to a lot of people, but typing, selecting an insertion point, etc. works so much better for me with a light touch on the display.

Absolutely. I try and use just the very tip of my finger.

Light touch is a great idea and I agree, but sometimes I cheat and just grab the stylus. In fact, lately, with this bum wrist, I type with the left hand and tap with the stylus in the right a lot of the time .... works okay aside from the "eminemenwurdz" problem popping up when I pick up the speed a bit.

How can an arrow key be faster? Say I type something and the fascist iPad spell checker changes it to something else, and I want to delete a single character. I touch in the desired word and end up one character to the left of where I want, so what is quicker, zoom in, touch again, zoom out, and backspace, or just arrow key right and backspace. There is absolutely no way you can honestly think the zoom zoom option is better or faster.

If you mean the auto-complete, you do know you can turn that off in the settings?

Why touch again and zoom out? Just type.

Apple makes two keyboards for the iPad, both with arrow keys if you need them. Third party blue-tooth keyboards may work as well.

Or you could just chuck the iPad and get a laptop...the 11" Air is sweet.

So you're assuming that the non-existent cursor is going to be nicely sitting at the end of the word so all you need to do is backspace?
