I agree that there should be arrow keys. Zooming in & then using that stupid magnifying glass is just annoying as ****. Give us arrow keys. And if there are any app designers listening, I'd pay for an app that let me customize my keypad. I mean, I'd like to move the dash to the same screen as the letters, add a cents key... you could make BIG BUCKS by selling an app that let people create the kind of personalized virtual keyboard that let them maximize their productivity.

I often find myself in need of arrow key in order to manipulate not only the cursor but my position within a wall of text. Yeah, I'm long winded. If i've been typing and the beginning of my post has scrolled up out of view in the box in which I'm typing, I often need to navigate to the top to either re-read or edit what I've written; no amount of magnifying or pinching is going to get me there. It's probably a short coming of the website, but the fact remains that I very often rely on arrow keys to force an interface to show me why I want to see. Having that option would be great.

To those proposing we just zoom in, just how does one "zoom into" an address bar or other fixed app field? The fact is that not everything displayed on your iPad can be zoomed into, which means at some point you will encounter an app or part of an app which requires the speed and precision of cursor keys (arrow keys). The magnifying glass is a mouse replacement, but we all know that a mouse is not a full replacement for cursor keys, so why do people think the magnifying glass is? There is room next to the AutoFill button. Why not put them on that bar? For that matter, they can bury them in the punctuation - i don't care so long as they exist.

The nail has been hit repeatedly on the head in this thread, but

too many fanboys are not listening:

1) Niot every input box can be scaled up sufficiently to allow cursor insertion.

2) Even when it can be scaled up to the equivalent of a 24 pt font, not everyone

has the same dexterity.

3) If Stevey can give us an onboard keyboard that gives us 18 symbols (£€¥, etc),

Stevey should give us an way to access arrow keys.

This should be a tablet for "the rest of us" (remember that slogan?). We don't

need to be told that some of the rest of us do not need arrow keys.

I just bought an iPad and was immediately disappointed in not having cursor keys. So I went to the app store and typed in 'keyboard' to see if I could find an enhancement. It made several suggestions one of which is 'fast keyboard - universal text editor'. That looks cool, I'll check it out......Nope. Doesn't look like it will work outside of it's own app. So now I want to go back. Holy Sh****. No back key. Hmmmm...so now I have to touch in the search terms field where I originally typed 'keyboard'. But now it doesn't say 'keyboard', it says 'fast keyboard - universal text editor' So I try to get the cursor to land just before the 'k' in keyboard. Yeah, right.

I want cursor keys and a back key! This is ridiculous and just way too much screwing around to do anything productive.
