Can't connect to itunes library or use airplay

I recently upgraded my Appletv software to the latest version and since then, I can't connect to my iTunes library or use Airplay. Everything was perfect before. I can connect to the itunes store and use Netflix but there seems to be no connection between my iMac and Apple tv. Tried everything and no go. Anyone has this problem or can help?
