Apple Hardware Test for MDD G4

While the Apple Hardware Test download page ( http://www.info.apple.com/support/aht.html) doesn't have links to them, I have found that there are downloads on apple.com for versions 1.2.7 and 2.0.1 of AHT. These are for the G4 MDD FW 400 and 800 models, respectively.

AHT 1.2.7:

AHT 2.0.1

I don't know if AHT 1.2.7 is intended for the 2003 MDD as well (since it's similar to the earlier FW 400 MDD), since Mactracker states that version 2.0.2 shipped with that model. From what I gather, for the 2003 MDD there was not a separate AHT disc but was rather the test was included on the 2 software install discs - but I don't have the discs myself to confirm.

Thanks for the info, I have 2.0.2 if you need it, & info on many hidden ones on Apple's site if you need them.

You are correct. AHT v2.0.2 is on my restore disc. for a 1.25GHz SP MDD.

I downloaded the AHT 2.0.1 & burned it to a CD. However, got a message that it was not compatible with my Mac - a 1.25GHz SP MDD.

Unless maybe somebody knows the 691- **-A number for it.

I have what you need.. email me and I will be glad to help.. FW800 takes 2.0.1, while 2003 and regular MDD(boot to os 9) all take 1.2.7

If this is true, then why does the Apple AHT download page say that the "Power Mac G4" AHT (which is ver. 1.2.6) works on the MDD????????

Since I had a 2003 MDD I can confirm that 1.2.7 was the correct one for that machine.. I never owned the single 1.25 MDD, but mine was a 2003 MDD Dual and the original hardware test included was the 1.2.6 version..

2.0.2 or 2.0.1 was for the FW800.. this I know.

The disc set you gave me was for the MDD G4 2003 set.. I think the FW800 set might be the same also.. I can get the 2z691- ** number for you.

They are assuming you have the regular and 2003 MDD.. and not the FW800 model.. that is weird also.. 1.2.7 works with 2003 and regular MDD, while 2.0.1 works with FW800..
