Replaced batteries in Magic Mouse now light is flashing

My wife just called me from home and told me that she replaced the battery in my Magic Mouse. She says it doesn't seem to be working and that the little green light is flashing. I asked all the usual questions, did you put the batteries in correctly, are they in tight, is the back on tight, etc. I've already replaced the batteries once and did not have any issues.

Any suggestions on how to correct this?

Thanks

I found a good KB article that explains this.

That article has a lot of advice, but very little regarding the problem you're experiencing. Try using the Bluetooth menu bar item to tell your Mac to connect to the mouse. Then open the Bluetooth panel of System Preferences. Be sure that "Discoverable" is selected. Then choose the Mouse item on the left, click on the gear at the bottom of the left column, and select "Add to Favorites" from the resulting menu.

The blinking green lite 'under' the mouse ONLY means low batt??

The manual for the Magic Mouse ( http://manuals.info.apple.com/enUS/Apple_Magic_MouseUG.pdf) says this about a blinking light: "If your mouse isn’t paired with a Mac, the light blinks, indicating your mouse is in discovery mode and ready to pair (pairing means your mouse and Mac are wirelessly connected to each other and ready to communicate)." It also says regarding replacing batteries that "You may have to click your Apple Magic Mouse once to reconnect it with your Mac."

What are u supposed to do when the cursor disappears and cant be seen....??

I routinely have trouble reconnecting my Magic Mouse after replacing the batteries. (I need to try that "click" trick.) I have an inexpensive USB trackball that I connect to the Mac when that happens. I use the trackball to connect the Magic Mouse to the Mac, then I disconnect the trackball. You can buy a USB mouse for an amazingly cheap price.

I'll guess that the light is blinking because it's not paired with your Mac. Use the Bluetooth menu bar item (presuming you have one) to tell your Mac to connect to the mouse. I routinely have to do that when I replace the batteries on my mouse.

So far the BEST thing I have found is to not wait til your batteries die in the Mouse...that's first.

The other, as soon as you get a "low batt" message on your screen shut down your Mac to change the batteries. After putting in new batts. power up your Mac and it finds your mouse instantly.

I have had a horrible time in the past getting my Mac Mini and Mac Book Pro (wife's) to find the mouse after battery changes when both are powered up or in sleep mode.
