Jan 20, 2011 12:50 AM in response to inuse217by Roger Wilmut1,You need an Australian credit card to be able to make purchases in the Australian Store, as well as physically being in the coutnry. -
Jan 20, 2011 8:27 AM in response to inuse217by varjak paw,An iTunes prepaid card sold in Australia, or a gift certificate or gift of the song from someone with an Australian iTunes Store account will also work. With any of those, you can open an account in the Australian iTunes Store and obtain content.

That is correct. By demand of the owners of the distribution rights for each country, the terms of use for the iTunes Store prohibit you from using any country's Store from outside of that country.

Jan 23, 2011 8:01 AM in response to inuse217by sicjoy,If I understand correctly, no you would not be able to purchase a song in the US with an Australian iTunes gift card since it was issued outside the US..., but I may be wrong. Hopefully someone else can give you a definite answer.

Correct. Your credit balance would not be transferrable to another country's iTunes Store, and you would not (by the terms of use) be able to continue to use the Australian iTunes Store. So it's probably not practical for a single song. Either get someone with an Australian iTunes Store account to gift you the song, or pick it up on CD (which is expensive for a single song, but less expensive than buying an entire gift card for just one track).

Jul 25, 2012 9:47 AM in response to varjak pawby HerbertBack,Well, it's not just the songs. It's also the books. How come that I can order German e-books from Amazon, but not through iTunes? That doesn't make sense!
