Q: relink a proxy bundle
Hi
Whilst trying to get clustering to work I changed the wrong permission somewhere and killed my xserve (yes its that easy - dont ever try and share your system disk if you dont know what you are doing!).
My latest FCServer backup was found to be corrupted (all older versions just wouldnt work - the database just wouldnt mount). I had to start again. I still have a 1.5TB proxy bundle which seems to mean nothing to my freshly installed FCServer catalogue. Is there anyway i can relink this contentbase asset to my new catalogue? or shall I delete it and start a fresh? (edit: i would prefer not to because there are some proxies that are previews for assets that have long since been archived and are great for pitches etc. it would be nice not to have to break out our LTO storage!)
while i'm here... and its a long shot. maybe someone has some thoughts on why my catalogue saves from before the server was killed don't work. I expect its something configure differently in the new server environment but maybe its fixable? Basically when i restore it all seems good but then FCserver won't start and i just get a 'Comms channel' error. All the paths are the same as they were (media in a RAID over fibrechannel, file paths with same names)
Any ideas appreciated.
Best
Dan

If you're starting from a new database, your old proxies.bundle content cannot be used.
In troubleshooting your issues with starting the database after restoring from backup, you might want to review the data in this article:
