The folder “XXX” can’t be opened because you don’t have permission to see..
I have a New Mac Mini and attached to it was my drobo. I used my mac mini as my media center, to watch internet tv, listen to itunes and watch movies. The music files are stored on the drobo, along with my movie collection. One day I went to listen to itunes on the mac mini and it came up with you do not have permission. I shut down the mac mini and re-started...nothing. Couldn't boot from CD, nothing. I call Apple support (since it is new) and it is being repaired at the apple store. The tech said there was a problem with the permissions.
My drobo was attached to the Mac Mini so I thought I should check it and attached it to my Mac Pro. The Drobo disks all have the same problem. "The folder “XXX” can’t be opened because you don’t have permission to see its contents." Also, the disk picture appears with a lock in the bottom left corner.
I used Disk Utilities to verify and repair the disks. Because it is an external HD, I understand from these forums that repair permissions is not available for the disks. When I "Get Info" the Sharing and Permissions pain shows all users Me, Staff, everyone with Custom Privilege. If I try to change the permissions, it immediately reverts back to custom. I can not remove or add a user.
I followed another post that discussed Terminal commands, but I need more information. I did a:
ls -leO@/volumes/
and this is what I got:
Office-Server:~ PGM$ ls -leO@ /Volumes/
