ITUNES DOWNLOADS VERY SLOW

Does anyone know why the downloads from the itunes store is now taking 8-12 hours for one 2 hour show when it used to be 3 hours. It took 3 hours today to download a 30min podcast. It has been downloading a 1 hour tv show for the last 4 hours and states it has two more hours. Is anyone else having this problem. Nothing has changed/deleted/been added to my computer or my interent connection. Any ideas?

I have read articles about this recently. This same thing happened to me. The problem could be affected if you are not using your ISP's local DNS servers. If you are using opendns or google, the akamai system doesnt play nice with them. read this article. but try switching back to your isp dns if you have changed it.

I am get both slow downloads on iTune downloads and loading on apple TV second generation for rental movies. I am getting ready to throughout my apple TV. It sometimes displays that it is loading the rental and it will take two hours before viewing. It is loading it where? I have the apple TV hooked up directly into the Ethernet and no speed problems with the connection to the internet. Is iTunes running out of bandwidth?

I have been also trying to find a reason for such a painfully slow downloads of movies from Apple, so slow I can walk to the video store rent a movie, watch the movie and walk back faster than it takes to download from Apple..and the store is 1.5 km's away!

Perhaps that is the answer for the problem, stop using Apple's "service" then they may do something about it.

It is very frustrating, in particular the lack of any comment from Apple as to a plan to fix

Apple Support, I have just bought 3 movies 2 from my account and 1 from my wifes account and both systems are stating that it will take 2 days to download. I have a FIOS 150 megabit per second up and 150 megabit per second down busiuness class fiber service to my location. I have tested downloading 10G files from two other locations and both work fine. I additionally went out and have tested doing speed tests (http://www.speedtest.net/) from over 10 other locations all over the US and all are over 75 magabits per second download speeds with a few give me 100 and 125 megabit per second speeds. What is wrong with your servers or your internet connection????

This is VERY FUSTRATING!!!
