I had this problem too. do NOT just email apple. the best thing to do ist use express lane and then they emailed me back saying they had re-enabled it. easy as that.

Same problem.  A few days ago I was contacted by my bank about suspicious charges--three charges to iTunes ($4.19, and two for $54.11).  They were fraudulent charges and the bank returned my money.  But now I can't figure out how I'm going to be able to add apps or update them since my Apple ID is disabled.  I've tried everything mentioned in this forum and nothing has worked!

What did iTunes support say when you contacted them?

Aplle has dropped the ball on this BIG time.  For everyone out there that says just contact Expres Lane - it's easy and stop complaining.  OK.........lets see how that plays out for a stock holder or a customer.  As a stock holder I'm selling tomorrow but I will probably hold on as a customer.  For the first time I had to download an application for work.  Obviously can't do that because account is disabled.  Project due tomorrow so Express Lane (and who calls 24 hr response Express - good one Apple - call it Express even though it's a day later and maybe nobody will notice?) obviously does me no good.  SO I will tell my boss that I could not deliver the project and we will lose the business because Apple doesn't care if we have to wait 24 hrs.  OK......so why sell the stock.  Apple needs to sell to the Enterprise to continue it's growth.  24hrs aint gonna cut it.  Buy their product and dump the stock.  And it might help if more people supported requests for a better process - instead of backing the current one.  Since I may have a lot of free time on my hands after tomorrow (when I get fired) I'll be able to spend more time evangelizing the benefits to Apple shareholders and customers of the advantages to evolving their current process.

It's not obvious at all to anyone here. Seems to be your first and only post.

You are working on a project that requires an iPad application and you wait till the very last minute to even attempt to get it?

Since I may have a lot of free time on my hands after tomorrow (when I get fired)

    See previous response...

Let me help you wiith a few things.  When your Apple ID is disabled you can not download applications.  Not sure why this is not obvious to you.  Maybe because it has never happened to you or maybe you just a very unaware of even basic Apple policies.  Does the frequency of posts help make it more obvious that if your ID is disabled that you can't download applications?  I'm not following your logic.

In addition to telling me boss I could not complete the project I will also let her know that she needs o give me a weeks notice - no more of asking for things when she needs them.  I will tel the whole organization that we can no longer get any "last minute" jobs done.  Really?  Is that the way things run at your company? At any company?

Once again trying to push the blame on the user rather than fixing the situation.

This is extremely obvious but it was far from obvious your account was disabled. You did not mention that.

In addition to telling me boss I could not complete the project

So you are incompetent? Why couldn't you finish the project?

You set yourself up for failure by getting yourself into a position knowing you will requires an app you do not have and you fail to get that app.

Then the boss tells you to finish your project and you don't have that app.

Did you just figure out at that very moment the boss told you to finish, that you can use only that app and nothing else?

Once again trying to push the blame on the user rather than fixing the situation.

Fix what situation? Your failure to plan ahead?

You are trying to push the blame on Apple rather than planning ahead and getting the app a month ago, knowing you will need this specific app or trying to figure out figuring out some other way to get the info you need.

You should tell that to your customer and you boss. "It's not my fault. My Apple account was disabled and I could not get the app I needed to finish."

I'm sure they will be sympathetic & understand.

The point I am trying to make here is that in the Enterprise world 24 hrs is too long to solve a problem.  So the "situation" that needs to be fixed is a faster solution for people who have had their Apple ID disabled (not sure how you missed that point).  My boss told me at 5:00 PM yesterday that I need to get something done this by this AM that required an Aplle App.  Unfortunately, I do not have the luxury you have of working for a company that always gives you one month notice when something is due.  It must also be nice to work for bosses that are sympathetic when you drop the ball and cost the company a lot of money.

I'm not sure it helps calling people names.  I am very competent.  A quick "google" of "apple ID disabled" will show you that I am part of a larger community that is disatisfied with the current process.

I did learn something helpful. If the App you need is free you can create a dummy eMail and set up a new account and get it that way.  I would suggest you try and provide helpful solutions like this rather than the name calling.

But is the key. You dropped the ball. Not Apple.

You knew this app is mission critical yet you waited until the last minute when it was an emergency to get it. Why?

I'm not sure it helps calling people names.  I am very competent.

It wasn't name calling. Just a simply fact.

You knew you were going to need the app yet you didn't get it. How is that anyone else's fault?

If you have contracts that hinge on one mission critical app (or anything else), I suggest you...

    1. have that app available before you actually need it (and use the app a few times to figure out what you need to do with it)
    2. have it on more than one computer

    3. have more than one iPad to use it on
  • Boston Jon Level 1 Level 1 (0 points)

The time in between my boss asking me to do something that needed the app and my attempt to get it was less than half an hour (that is how long it takes me to get home).  I am now in a much better position now to defend myself against Apple's poor customer service.  If having to buy a extra iPad I don't need prevents me from losing my job then it's worth it.  Thanks for the suggestion (I had not considered that).

  • Chris CA Level 9 Level 9 (77,510 points)

Wow! That's really some some job and some boss you have.

You are required to purchase your own computers and software and do it all on your own time...

And you are required to do it all on a moments notice (still on your own time). You personally must get gigantic bonus (at least 5 digits) for each contract.

But hey, it's your life/job and I may not understand it so good luck!

Still don't understand how Apple has poor customer service.

So chris is there any way to fix the "disabled ID problem" happening for what seems to be no reason at all.( not hacked, no pay-pal account or anything like that) or does Apple not know the answer? any info would be awesome so that I can use my iPad2 that hopefully wasn't a waste of money.

Try this first -> Apple ID: "This Apple ID has been disabled for security reasons" alert appears

If this does not do it, you will need to contact -> iTunes support

I have experience the same problem as you.  my cc got hacked and now cannot do anything with updating my apps on my phone.  I have tried resetting and that does not work and cannot find where to leave a general email for apple.  I wish there was a toll free number or something.

  • Chris CA Level 9 Level 9 (77,510 points)

Is there some reason you ignored all previous posts in this thread?

Why would you want to send a general email to Apple? Don't you want to specifically fix the problem?

Try the link I posted above.

I wish there was a toll free number or something.

1-800-myapple. Look at the lower right of every page on this Apple website. Contact Us.

iTunes support is email only though. See the link I previously posted.
