Is there a way to delete all your email without having to edit and delete one check at a time?

HI and welcome.......

Try the workaround here.

Something else that may help you.

Tap Settings / Mail, Contacts, Calendars / your email account / Account / Mail / Advanced / Remove.

You can set it for one day or as long as a month.

You can provide feedback to Apple here. (Deleting All at one time would be nice).

Check as many as you like, after tapping Edit. Each one selected will have a checkmark, and all selected messages will go away when you tap Delete. Then same applies to the Move button.

In iOS 4.2.1 the only mailbox which has a Delete All button is Trash. It will be replaced with a Delete button if you use the above moding in Trash.

Actual text from User Guide ...

+You can delete messages one at a time, or select a group to delete all at once. You can also move messages from one mailbox or folder to another.+

+Delete a message: Open the message and tap (trash icon). Or, swipe left or right over the message title in the message list, then tap Delete.+
+Delete multiple messages: When viewing a list of messages, tap Edit, select the messages you want to delete, then tap Delete. You can also search for messages and choose the ones you want to delete. See Searching Email.+

Thank you so much. I really mean it. There was nothing in the iPad info to say things would be different with gmail. I think ifnI disable archive on mygmail settings I will achieve normalcy. At least I now lnowmthe masques are not clogging up my iPad. (or are they?)

Thanks for hanging in there. I ,am headed for France for a few weeks and needed to get this solved. My fallback was to be doing mynmailnat the gmail sitenusing Safari.
