I lost all contacts on my iphone. I do not remember doing anything to cause this. I have rebooted phone, but that did not work.

I'm not sure if contacts are saved on my computer. Does info automatically sync to computer? If yes, how do I retrieve this info?

OK, if all is lost, can you please explain to me how to back up my phone info to my mac.

Thanks. Lisa.

    Hello Ipires,
    And welcome to  Discussions!

If you have a backup your iPhone, see this document on how to restore it. One of the things that is backed up is your contacts.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414

Every time you connect your iPhone to your Mac, iTunes automatically creates a backup of certain information from your iPhone and saves in on your Mac. To see what is all included in the backup and where this backup can be found, see this document.

This is the ipod forum. Perhaps you should post in the iphone forum.

You should be syncing your contacts to your computer regularly.

They would be in whatever program you have selected.

Perhaps you should look at the manual:

    1.Open iTunes on your computer.
2.Plug in your iPhone to your computer just as you would to sync it normally.
3.Locate the iPhone in the "Devices" column at the left of the iTunes application window.
4.Right-click (Ctrl + click for Mac) on the iPhone icon in the "Devices" column and select "Restore From Backup." Select one of the backup versions from the drop-down menu and click the "Restore" button. This will restore any contacts that you have lost since your last sync in iTunes.
5.Eject your iPhone and go to your contact list on it. Any lost contact or contacts should be restored to your list.

Read more the article about [How to transfer iPhone contacts to computer|http://www.softwarebbs.com/wiki/Howto_transfer_and_backup_contacts_from_iPhone_toPC],hope it can help you much.

If you have lost some or all of your contacts, and need to re-load them from your iPhone, just reset your sync history (in Edit->Preferences->Devices) and iTunes will let you re-merge or copy them on next sync.

If you hit the info tab when you sync your iphone, theres the Sync Address Book Contacts.
You can obtain more info about the guide of [iPhone Contact to Mac|http://www.softwarebbs.com/wiki/Howto_transfer_contacts_from_iPhone_to_Mac,_copy_iPhone_contacts_onMac].

Use your Mac Address Book and sync your iPhone with iTunes. From the Info tab, under Contacts, make sure to select “Address Book” from the drop-down menu before you sync.

I am not sure whether it works on Mac, but you can use copytrans contacts to transfer the contacts too (in case you do not want to use iTunes sync):

Finally, you can simply use the iCloud app and install it on your Mac. Make sure to enable iCloud contact sync on your iPhone. Then import contacts from your Mac to your iCloud application, this will move and sync the contact entries to your iPhone.
