How to change sync settings in iTunes

How do you change sync settings in iTunes? I want to be able to connect my iPhone to iTunes and not have my iPhone automatically sync information to/from my computer and iPhone.

iPhone 3G, iOS 4

iTunes includes a global option for this.

Go to iTunes > Preferences and under the Devices tab select Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically.

At least taking a glance through the iPhone user guide may be a good idea for you especially if you don't know how to change your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes. With your iPhone connected to iTunes, select your iPhone under Devices in the iTunes source list. The various tabs for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes will be available in the main iTunes window.

How can i change the setting of sync from iphone to outlook and from outlook to iphone. please help me. i need to sync my contacts to outlook. and my setting is only fron outlook to iphone.

iPhone User Guuide? I have all the original paperwork that came with my iPhone and there is no user guide.

It's just a convoluted way of saying sync less stuff, and the condescending dolt who keeps referencing the User Guide is obviously committed to not being helpful.
