Hehe, this is too funny. I was simply explaining my answer. Something so many on here don't have time for with attempting to build their post numbers with mindless one word answers which helps no one and only adds a tick to their post count. Yes, Wjosten you and the other poster, I was talking about you either being ignorant to the Cellular technology or either too lazy to explain your answer(s). Plain and simple. When someone asks a question, if I choose to invest my time in answering (opening my mouth) I am going to answer in the most appropriate and with as much information as I see needed to answer the question and also supply some technical information to not allow the asking party to walk away scratching their head. Have a delightful evening.
JPBOSS is incorrect. If a cellsite shares 3G and 4G technology then a current iPhone will only work on its 3G network. It will NOT work on its 4G network.
The key point is that these will be separate networks (even if they share the same frequency).
What ever happened to this part of the Terms of Use we all agreed to:
"2. Be polite. Everyone should feel comfortable reading Submissions and participating in discussions. Apple will not tolerate flames or other inappropriate statements, material, or links. Most often, a "flame" is simply a statement that is taunting and thus arbitrarily inflammatory. However, this also includes those which are libelous, defamatory, indecent, harmful, harassing, intimidating, threatening, hateful, objectionable, discriminatory, abusive, vulgar, obscene, pornographic, sexually explicit, or offensive in a sexual, racial, cultural, or ethnic context."
It happens a lot on this forum, yet when someone writes speculation/rumors their posts get deleted quickly. So shouldn't all posts that may not be nice to other posters be deleted?
And you are violating the terms of use in this regard.
Discussions of Apple policies or procedures or speculation on Apple decisions.
As the old saying goes - those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones - and another - when pointing a finger at someone, there are three fingers pointing back at you.
What "may not be nice" is not always clear cut or is in the eye of the beholder. I'd say the poster you are trying to defend was the first one to "not be nice". If you are going to give it, you better be ready and willing to take it.
Each post and thread here is not read by a moderator or by any Apple employee. All posts that violate the terms of use may not be reported to a moderator or brought to a moderator's attention.
Unfortunately, there is no adhered to definition of "4G", and the cell carriers can call whatever they like "4G." Even the LTE format (used by Verizon and AT&T) and WiMax (Sprint) are NOT 4G by the original ITU-R definition.
AT&T is confusing it more by declaring it's HSPA "+" system (3.5G by any rational def) to be "4G", so that they'll have two "4G" systems. Isn't it great to be living in the Golden Age of B
**s**?
I agree with you that none of the networks that claim 4g are 4g but a faster 3g and that Verizon LTE probably has the fastest 3g(4g)network. None of the carriers meet the specs of a true 4g network and I believe Verizon might be the closest in meeting those specs with their LTE network, But that's not saying much because they all have ways to go to reach true 4g.
