safari 400 error from internal network

we have a mac mini server (intitially 10.6.5, now 10.6.6), and ever since we updated clients to 10.6.6 we are experiencing the following problem:

when we try to connect to our own company website, hosted externally with our ISP we get the following message in safari...

'error 400 bad request'

the website works just fine from any other network, we have also tried to empty a clients local safari & dns caches and did the same on the server, unfortunately to no avail.

any ideas what causes this or how we could fix this are much appreciated.
