Roland V Drums as MIDI controller not sending data

Hi,

I am trying to use my Roland TD4X kit as a MIDI controller, for use with the EXS24 etc. but it doesn't seem to be sending any data.

I have a USB/MIDI cable with a USB port on one end and MIDI in and out ports on the other. I have connected the MIDI in port on the cable to the MIDI out port on the kit.

The cable does not require a driver.

I have read the manual for the kit and it does not have any help for me.

I have tested the cable in Audio MIDI Studio. When I press the Out button (down arrow) on what I'm assuming must be the cable, the green light lights up on the cable. However, I can not press the In button.

I have also read various forums and blog posts but no-one seems to have this exact problem.

Is this an issue with the cable? Or the kit? Or am I doing something wrong?

Any help is much appreciated.

Maybe the "out" on your cable goes into the out-port? You're correct for the usual convention, connecting two midi devices. But the convention is not intuitive and maybe they really wrote on the cable where the plug goes, not what it represents ...

Good luck,
