Thanks again for the response.
I am familiar with Multisession recording. However that is not the point of my post.
I have purchased and used succesfully on a Windows PC, CD-RW, DVD-RW and DVD+RW media.
The System Profiler on my Mac states the following under "Disk Burning:"
HL-DT-ST DVD-RW GWA-4165B:
Firmware Revision: C006
Interconnect: ATAPI
Burn Support: Yes (Apple Shipped/Supported)
Cache: 2048 KB
Reads DVD: Yes
CD-Write: -R, -RW
DVD-Write: -R, -RW, +R, +RW, +R DL
Burn Underrun Protection CD: Yes
Burn Underrun Protection DVD: Yes
Write Strategies: CD-TAO, CD-SAO, CD-Raw, DVD-DAO
Media: No
If I insert a blank RW media, I can erase it with Disk Utility. Afterwards, the computer will not recognize the media. If I insert an RW disk that was formatted and written to on a Windows computer, I can read the data on the disk but cannot write to the disk. If I insert a blank RW media that was formatted on a widows machine, Didk Utility indicates that it is "read only."
The online Apple Spec for the computer states the following:
Optical drive 16x SuperDrive with double-layer support (DVD+R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
Thanks again,
