Macbook Pro trackpad dead spot

Hi, i have a Macbook Pro late 2009 model and i've noticed recently that the trackpad seems to have a dead spot in it when physically clicking. It covers probably the whole bottom quarter of the trackpad and is very frustrating. Is it maybe a setting or driver, or will i have to take this in to apple? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks
