Playlist order resorted when burning playlist to CD-R.

I am not having any issues other than the order of tracks in my playlist are being resorted when burned to a CD-R. It appears that the re-sort is a function of the album name, but I can't change or circumvent the problem. Has anyone found how to maintain the order of the playlist I set when burning a CD-R? Since this is a dance mix, a change negates the value of the mix itself.
Thanks.

In the Burn Disc dialog, are you selecting the "audio CD" option?

If you are burning a "data CD," it will not preserve play order, but rather will be sorted according to the folder options under which it is viewed.

other than the order of tracks in my playlist are being resorted when burned to a CD-R

The playlist is getting resorted or the songs on the CD are getting resorted?
When viewing a CD in iTunes, the songs are sorted by the column header you have selected.
Select the CD then select the very first column header with the numbers.

I'll try clicking the column header as suggested before burning.

That has nothing to do with the issue.
if you are talking about viewing the burned CD in iTunes (not the playlist you used to burn the CD), you can sort the items on the CD any way you want when viewing in iTunes.

Select the CD on the left side of iTunes and sort however you wish.

Sorry, but I don't understand your suggestion. You seem to indicate that somehow I should sort the songs on the CD-R after they have been burned to the disc? The problem is that the order in the playlist as set for intended playback and burning, is being re-ordered when the songs are being burned onto the CD-R. This re-ordering is contrary to intent and a solution to the problem remains unfound. Thanks for your help though.

Let me try to understand.
1 You create a a playlist you want to burn to a CD.
2 You select this playlist and order it as you want.
3 You go to menu File > Burn playlist to CD and as soon as you do this the playlist gets re-ordered before the CD is burned?
The problem is that the order in the playlist as set for intended playback and burning, is being re-ordered when the songs are being burned onto the CD-R.

When it is being burned?
Or before it is burned?
Or after it is burned?

What is re-ordered?
A *playlist in iTunes* or *the burned CD* when viewing in iTunes?

I went into INFO & added 01, 02 at the beginning of each title.
I burned the CD.
It appears to be out of order.
I printed the CD insert in the order I wanted, and the guy I'm giving the CD to, can put them in the order I chose.

This should be easier. When giving a gift CD, the order of the songs is important.
There are several questions on this site with the same problem. APPLE - make it easier.

The order is sorted in iTunes however you had it sorted when you insert the CD-R.

However, when you put the newly burned CD-R into any other device (not running iTunes--your car stereo) the order should be retained, at least it is for me.

It's just when you open the CD-R in iTunes it uses the last known sort order which might not be the intended play order, make sense?

I burned the same disc 5 times (always in reverse order, even though iTunes shows the tracks in the proper order in the playlist) before I found, what I believe to be, a solution.

Make sure you're NOT in Grid view or Album list view -- just _*go to standard 'song list' view*_ when you create your playlist and burn it from that view. That's how I finally got mine to burn in the correct order.

I just posted this same question before finding this discussion. I tried clicking on the far-left column (with the downward carot) and hope I've got it happy at last. Disk #6 is burning as I type ... I'm working on my second playlist because the original got locked into the random order that emerged after I burned my first CD.

Yeah! Success! (and now I'm so ****** sick of listening to these songs that I probably WON'T be using the disk in class tomorrow, but at least it's done at last). It was nice to find this help waiting ...

Just had the same experience. I don't know for how long I had this trouble. Normally you don't check on the burnt CDs to see that the order is right! It had always been in the past! So this must be something that have happened in the later versions/updates. In my case I suddenly experienced that the first track always changed place and became track 9 (out of 10). All the time the same. And it did not help to recreate the whole playlist from scratch. The same thing repeated itself.

Then suddenly also three other playlists got distorted, and then more randomly.

Now I started using the tip above and it did not work the first time. The CD still came out with no 1 as no 9, but the second try worked fine!! Thanks!

Then I found that if I put the distorted CD into the computer and pressed the "arrowicon" it immediately changed to the right track positions – and remained there! So the next time I put the CD into the computer, the playlist was correct!
