Getting photos from computer onto iPad

Hi: How do I get photos from my computer (MacBook Pro) on to my iPad. Thanks. My photos are not in iPhoto. They are in folders on desktop.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Still connect up to iTunes and use it to import them. Or, there are a variety of apps in the Photography section of the Store that specialize in moving things back and forth in various ways.

Thank you. I was able to transfer by going to iTunes and transferring a folder.

So, I was able to do it once and haven't been able to do it since. I am getting very frustrated. I go to iTunes. Then I get a summary page. Then I go to photos and there's a drop-down box to sync photos FROM folders on computer to iPad. But it's all grayed out. Can't do anything.

The second problem is that shortly thereafter I lose that page and I get my music library and I can never find that page again -- the one where there was a grayed-out drop down box.

Maybe I need more detailed directions. Thank you.

Also, there used to be an option on the far left column that said Phinney's Devices. And somewhere there there was iPad. Now all I get is music options. Can't get back to that iPad page or the page where I think I transferred photos before. Thanks.

No promises at all but a system Reset cures many ills:
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.

A Reset does NOT delete apps, photos, movies, music or any other data.

Also, you might wish to download the 4.2 User Guide. Pay special attention to page 170.

Thank you. I just figured it out. The box to the left of the words Sync Photos From was not checked. It needs to be. Not sure why the box is there in the first place. Why else would you be on that page if you were not going to sync photos. Grrrr..... Directions need to be more dummy-proof.

That does not solve the problem of how I get the Devices menu and the ipad page up. But I found that if I just keep plugging the iPad in that option shows up, temporarily.

I have a couple of issues. For some odd reason, I stopped getting the window popping up when I connected either my iphone or iPad to my pc that gave me a choice of what to do with files/photos when first connecting. I managed to get it to reappear when I connect my phone but not the iPad. I did an iPad reset and lost all the photos from it(they are on my pc and iPhone) but how can I get them back? They were all on there having synced automatically in the past. In addition, when I look in to 'My computer' when I have the iPad connected, it isn't showing as a device but my iPhone is when that is connected. I am sure it should show as a device when it's connected shouldn't it?

All other syncing works fine (music, apps etc)
