Safari can't connect to the proxy server.

This problem started 2 days ago whereby I get this when opening all pages but AMEX and CHASE banking. I also am unable to open the iTunes store. I am having no problems on either of the browsers" Flock, or Camino (from which I am posting this): "Safari can’t open the page “http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=876” because Safari can’t connect to the web proxy server (HTTP). To change your proxy settings, open Safari Preferences, click Advanced, and then click Change Settings. For help with this problem, contact your system administrator." p.s. I have changed nothing in my settings, ran Cocktail which repairs permissions, removed the bookmark file (I read this suggestion on another post), and reset all but autofill and cookies in Safari 5.0.3. Thanks in advance for any attention. dennis

Hi Dennis,

Your profile v10.6.5

If that is correct, updating your system software may help. Click the Apple () menu (top left in your screen) Software Update ...

reset all but autofill and cookies

Definitely delete all cookies related to the sites you have problems accessing from Safari / Preferences - Security - Show Cookies.

Restart your Mac.

No I'm at .6 I just hadn't changed it in my OS box. So I have myriad cookies for sites (musical, healthcare, foruns, etc). Delete the cookies for everyone of them? As stated Chase and AMEX work but that is less than 1/2 of 1% of my bookmarked websites and when all of my bookmarks (100s) carry over to flock there is no problem. Just confirming Carolyn. Gratefully. dennis
