Smart folders not auto refreshing

Hello all,

I have set up a smart folder to display my most recent docs (last 3 days).

The problem I have is that the folder doesn't auto refresh which means every time I open the folder, I have to reenter the search criteria to search all modified docs from the last 3 days, meaning it doesn't automatically do it when I open the folder and it only shows the last 3 days of documents from the last time i reentered the search criteria.

Can anyone help?

Many thanks

Apple broke it, only Apple can actually fix it.

The result of Apple's goof is that when you add a date it gets saved as the date you created the smart folder, rather than a non-specific "yesterday" or "last week" or whatever, and in the future you smart folder displays files from the date the folder was created, rather than the date it is being used. You might want to send feedback that the feature is broken:

There is a work-around, but it is rather geeky--it involves adding a Raw Query for the time setting. You add a criterion, then click the double arrows on it, select Other, then select Raw Query. In the blank area, paste this:

kMDItemLastUsedDate >= $time.today(-14)

That will restrict the search to items that were accessed in the last two weeks. For the last 3 days, change the number at end from 14 to 3.
