Converting Word Perfect to Pages?

Can anyone recommend a quick automated method to convert old WordPerfect files to Pages?

MacPro Octo, MatroxOX2 MAX, MacBook Pro C2D 2G, iMac, iPad, iPhone 4 & 3GS, Mac OS X (10.6.4), Final Cut Pro Studio 7.0.2, AG-HVX200

You might be able to convert it free at this site into a Word file that Pages can open:

AbiWord is said to open Word Perfect files. You could then save as Word which Pages can open. I don't know about automated, but you might be able to write an AppleScript or create an Automator action to do the job.

As peggy says, AbiWord (free) is the only conversion path.

You're wrong peter.

the zamzar site named by Walt K is an other conversion path.

I checked and WordPerfect documents are in the list of the ones which they may convert.

This said, I may understand that some one prefer doing the conversion on his own machine, not in the clouds 😉

I believe MacLink Plus could do it, too, but DataViz is no more. It might be possible to get a copy from eBay or some other outlet.

Automated, not unless you know how to use Automator or Apple Script

neooffice reads .WPD Word Perfect Documents and will Save As .RTF, Rich Text Format, which is read and interpreted properly by Pages.

Have you tried this recently? LibreOffice chose to carry this functionality forward, and it currently can open Word Perfect documents. OpenOffice chose to drop Word Perfect support due to licensing issues.

Download the latest free LibreOffice suite that definitely converts Word Perfect documents — I have done so here.

Drag/drop your Word Perfect document onto the LibreOffice Application icon, and you can then save the opened content as Word .doc/.docx, and then on into Pages. If your Word Perfect document is saturated with WP custom macros, your mileage will vary.
