Online Streaming services

There are numerous online streaming services which make it possible to watch selected TV programs on my Apple computer.

How can I view/transmit these programs to a HD TV:

1. Can Apple TV be used for this purpose?

2. If not, how should the computer be connected to the TV set? Via airport express?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.2), iMac6,1, Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.33 GHz

Which streaming services are you rferring to?

Apple tv only has access to iTunes store (podcasts/rentals), Netflix, Youtube, Mobileme, flickr and some internet radio.

If you have a mac mini you can connect via HDMI.

I am referring to non Apple "TV" streaming services such as Eurosport whereby with a monthly payment viewing is possible it would be preferable to view on a TV screen. Is it not possible to transmit via"airport express" or other means?

No, unless you have an ios device (iphone, ipod touch, ipad) and they have an app/enable support with the next update.

To connect a computer to the TV you would have to do so via cables. Alternatively there are other streaming devices but you would have to research as to what fits your needs.
