Can't read a Joliet-filesystem CD

I burned a CD on my roomate's Linux computer under the Joliet filesystem. According to OS X's disk utility, it's a Joliet ISO 9660 CD (which it should be able to read just fine).

It can mount and see the contents, but any reading after that doesn't work. I can't load the file directly nor can I copy it to my HD.

I tried this method but it didn't help.

Additionally, the burned file is an AVI video which worked fine when on my hard drive.
The CD can mount and read okay on the Linux computer. I tried burning a different video but same error.

I'm very surprised that no one has been able to offer any help... don't take that as a rude comment, but I usually get a reasonable answer to problems within 48 hours. This is the second time I've posted about this to no avail... does no one know?
