alternating caps

alternating caps

starting yesterday, all my incoming messages are in alternating caps/lowercase. even when i turn off reformat incoming messages, it still does it, no matter who the message is from. outgoing messages are fine, and no one else seems to see any difference when chatting with me, so it’s just my ichat reformatting everything so that a message sent entirely in lowercase will appear to me with every other character capitalized. including spaces, but not punctuation.

FoR ExAmLe, eNd oF SeNtEnCe. nEw sEnTeNcE.

any ideas how to fix this?

MacBook Pro 17" 2.5GHz, Mac OS X (10.6.6), iChat Version 5.0.3 (745)

Hi,

With iChat Open go to the iChat Menu > Preferences > Alerts pane.
In here select the top drop down to read "Message Received"

Is this set to run an AppleScript item ?
Is it the one that Reformats Text ? (Mix Message Case)

This little script is added to Hard Drive/Library/Scripts/iChat for iChat 5 in Snow Leopard.

Mostly, it seems, it was expected to be used for outgoing IMs but the Selection process in the Alerts pane means it can reformat incoming ones as well.

Hi,

For the points

I think it was put in more to show people what could be done.

It would be more fun and more "useful" (readable) if the text was multi-coloured in my opinion.

The actual script may give you Ideas though.
