How? Transferring email messages from a G4 (10.4.11) to a Mac Pro 10.6.6

Hi there,

I just purchased a Mac Pro and would like to transfer some important Mail messages to it from the G4 MDD being replaced.

Which files/folders must I copy to accomplish the above?

Transplant a copy of the com.apple.mail.plist file and the Mail folder from the Home folder of the old Mac. The Mail folder will found at Home/Library and the plist at Home/Library/Preferences folder. Put the copies in the same location of the new Mac. Later you remove some files the will no longer be needed in the newer version of Mail.

Now you can open the Mail folder, and then each account folder (such POP account folder) and remove the MessageUidsAlreadyDownloaded2 files -- the function of this file has be replaced by the MessageUidsAlreadyDownloaded3 file at the root level of the Mail folder.
